Whatup uses your current GPS location at the moment you query for events to see if there are any public events around you. Events can be pulled in at ranges of 5, 10, or 20 miles. They can also be filtered down by category to bring down the number of events displayed.
If you are within 2 miles of an event you can post a shout into it for everyone else within that range to see.
When you make an event of your own, invite your friends and get a private chat to discuss details.
If the event plans change (say location, or time) everyone that was invited to the event will receive a notification so that theyre aware of the changes.
Every time you open up the app youll be able to see a list of friends that use the app and the current status theyve set.
